RISK ASSESSMENT OF FLUOROCARBONS CHEMICALS
Risk assessments of the most important fluorocarbons are carried out from various initiatives such as the US Challenge program (EPA), the EU Priority list ( under Existing Chemicals program), or by the OECD ( under HPV Chemicals programme)
ICCA: International Council of Chemical Associations (of which CEFIC is the European member), has launched a Global Initiative on High Production Volume (HPV) Chemicals in 1998 and has joined the OECD Program.
The objective of this initiative is to provide globally harmonized, internationally agreed data sets and initial hazard assessments for around 1,000 HPV substances, under the form of:
OECD’s SIDS Initial Assessment Meetings (SIAM) review these documents, deliver and approve SIDS with conclusions and recommendations.
The SIDS Dossiers, together with the SIDS Initial Assessment Reports, once they are agreed upon by Member countries are published by UNEP Chemicals.
The following table lists all Fluorinated Chemicals included in these programs.
The table is listed by CAS numbers, as does the OECD data base.

JACC REPORTS
http://www.ecetoc.org/Content/Default.asp?PageID=24
ECETOC (European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals) publishes the Joint Assessment of Commodity Chemicals (JACC) series of reports, containing comprehensive critical reviews of toxicological and ecotoxicological data for some fluorocarbons, predominantly those having widespread and multiple uses. In some cases, these hazard assessments are further extended to enable their application in risk assessment scenarios e.g. under the EC Existing Substances Regulation (EEC) 793-93.
